Hoops for Hope 🏀

A basketball tournament hasn’t been as exciting as what went down on the 11th of March 2018 at the BB courts of General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University. The annual 3×3 Basketball Tournament organized by the Rotaract Club of KDU presented yet again another opportunity for the talented basketball players to put their talents into good use by helping raise funds for a worthy cause.

The tournament was organised to raise funds for the club’s community service project ‘H2O for Life’; an endeavor to provide clean drinking water to the little souls of Daakathipathana. It was heartening to see so many individuals from various clubs & other individual teams of various ages, join us in achieving this goal.

As my third time being a part of this project, I am proud to say that it was as intense & exciting as the previous times, if not more. The number of teams that participated was more than ever before as there was a turn up of 74 teams playing under 3 divisions; Elite (Men), Open Mens & Open females. With the involvement of the Basketball federation the tournament was a notch higher than the previous years in order to raise its standard &!to maintain just & fair play.

The success of the project has to be chalked up to the hard-work & dedication of all our members especially the efficiency & initiative shown by our very talented chairpersons, Rtr. Kanchana & Rtr. Sanara who organized it with much flare & competence. We thank everyone who showed us their utmost support & showed up for the event to witness it & to support the teams participating. We hope you had an amazing time as much as we did organizing it. Until next time!
